All STIHL units are powered by 2-cycle (2 stroke) air-cooled engines, and require a mixture of gasoline and 2-cycle engine oil for air-cooled engines, as follows:

STIHL 2 cycle (1:50) oil

1 part oil to 50 parts gasoline.

Any other 2 stroke air-cooled oil

1 part oil to 25 parts gasoline.

An incorrect oil mixture will damage the machine.

Do not use waste engine oil, outboard oil, or any oil other than 2 stroke         air-cooled oil as above.
