For Chain Saws:

· We recommend that only special bar and chain oil, or 30 or 40
engine oil be used to lubricate the bar and chain.
Do not use waste oil to lubricate saw chain.
· Do not adjust the low speed or high speed needles on the carburetor
to settings other than those clearly stated in the instruction
manual. The engine comes preset from the factory richer than normal,
and must go through a break in period as set out in the manual.
· Do not tamper with the tension on the governor spring.
· Do not operate the machine with a slack chain, as this will
cause damage to the bar, chain and sprocket.
· Should the saw blade encounter an obstacle in the log being
cut, or bind in the log, withdraw the blade immediately before
continuing operation. Do not attempt to force the cut, as this will cause
damage to the oil pump, clutch and sprocket.
· Chain should be sharpened evenly. Do not file down the depth
gauge on the chain. If filed down excessively, this will cause
the chain to break, damaging the bar and cutters. This may cause injury.
Note: STIHL 2-cycle Oil is available from Farfan & Mendes
Limited.
For Brush Cutters:

· We recommend that only the specially manufactured grease from
STIHL, which is available at Farfan & Mendes, be used
on gear heads for brush cutters.
· Use only cutting attachments manufactured by STIHL for your
brush cutter. Do not use the “long” blades manufactured
locally, which can flake or break, and cause serious injury to the user
as well as persons in the vicinity. These unbalanced blades
will also cause severe damage to the gear head.
· Brush Cutters must never be operated without the deflector being
in place, as doing so puts the operator at risk of injury.
· When using the nylon line / trimcut head, the deflector along
with the black plastic skirt serves as a line cutter.
Removing them will cause damage to the machine.
